After the NHL announced Monday that the Rangers would kick off the 2025-26 schedule on Oct. 7 at Madison Square Garden against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the league released the rest of its schedule Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins had their schedule finalized for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday. Fans already knew they would be starting the season on the road against the New York Rangers on October 7, but were waiting for the rest of the schedule so they could plan which games to attend.

Two weeks into the start of free agency, the Penguins look a little different on paper after a couple of trades and signings.

In Laviolette’s place steps in new coach Mike Sullivan, who comes to the Rangers from the Pittsburgh Penguins, who he led the team to a 34-36-12 record. As an added bit of intrigue, the 57-year-old was originally drafted by the Blueshirts in 1987 but held out and stayed for another season at Boston University.

After just missing out on the playoffs last season, the Islanders will be looking to get back into the Stanley Cup hunt as they begin the 2025-26 season.
