Australia has evacuated a small number of citizens from Israel, and New Zealand embassy staff have left Iran, but the two governments warned that closed airspace limited how they can assist thousands of citizens requesting help to leave the conflict zone.

Thousands of Australians are stranded in Iran and Israel as the conflict enters its seventh day, with airspace closures complicating evacuations. But a small group has managed to evacuate Israel via cruise ship.

Sirens sounded across Israel early on Thursday as the Israeli military said it detected incoming missiles from Iran. “A short while ago, sirens sounded in several areas across Israel following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel,” the military said in a post on Telegram.
