President Trump said Monday that he and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney were still debating how to come to an agreement on trade. “We’re going to see if we can get to the bottom of it today,” Trump said before meeting with Carney.

Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada and the US are aiming to strike a trade deal within a month, a goal set during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the Group of Seven summit.

The 2018 summit ended with Trump assailing his Canadian hosts on social media as he departed on Air Force One, saying he had instructed the U.S. officials who remained in Quebec to oppose the G7 joint statement endorsed by the leaders of Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and, of course, Canada.
