The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection rates haze and smoke from Canadian wildfires as unhealthy for sensitive groups.

“Fine particles look to average in the mid to upper Moderate range due to Canadian wildfire smoke with the potential for some hourly concentrations reaching Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups on a short-term basis,” reads the Tuesday forecast from MassDEP.

Canada is experiencing a terrible wildfire season with nearly 4,000 wildfires so far this year, close to a record pace.
