In the first attempted carjacking, Waterbury Lt. Ryan Bessette said a suspect pointed a gun at the victim’s head and demanded they exit the vehicle, but the victim managed to drive away. In the second incident, multiple suspects who were armed with firearms exited a Ford Explorer and demanded the victim’s car keys, Bessette said.

No one was injured after officers exchanged gunfire with the carjacking suspect near 9th Street and Van Brunt Avenue.

MINNEAPOLIS — A man was shot in an apparent attempted carjacking near downtown Minneapolis Thursday, police said. It happened around noon on Willow Street near Loring Park, according to a spokesperson with the Minneapolis Police Department.

Waterbury Police say one of their officers was shot in the leg during an Auto Theft Task Force investigation. Police say the ATTF officers were conducting an investigation concerning attempted carjacking’s at various locations throughout the city.

Officials said the shooting happened when officers with the auto theft task force confronted suspects Thursday evening.
