AC Milan beat Liverpool 4-2 in a pre-season friendly in Hong Kong on Saturday as the Premier League club's record signing Florian Wirtz made his first start for them.

In the second half Milan pulled away with Ruben Loftus-Cheek scoring and a double from Noah Okafor off the bench caught out the Reds. Cody Gakpo was on the scoresheet for Liverpool in stoppage time as new signing Hugo Ekitike looked on from sidelines.

Premier League champions Liverpool kicked off their pre-season tour of Asia with a shock 4-2 defeat against Serie A side AC Milan at Kai Tak Sports Park. Massimiliano Allegri's counter-attacking side got the better of Arne Slot's experimental team, as Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo were the only two Liverpool names to feature on the scoresheet.
