WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - With Isaac Paredes serving as designated hitter in his return from a hamstring strain, Luis Guillorme started at third base and offered a glimpse of why he wields a strong defensive reputation despite the Houston Astros falling to the A's 3-1 Monday night.

Guillorme's stay with the major league ball club might last a few more games. Paredes, who is struggling with a strained hamstring, appeared back in the lineup on Monday as a designated hitter, but there has not yet been a timetable on his return to defense.
