New York – Gavin Williams came within two outs of Cleveland’s first no-hitter in 44 years before Juan Soto homered with one out in the ninth inning, and the Guardians completed a three-game sweep of the reeling New York Mets with a 4-1 win Wednesday.

And they didn't quite get to see it change on Wednesday, either. Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams made a 25-out bid at a no-hitter in Queens against the New York Mets, but he couldn't get the final two outs. Juan Soto spoiled it with a home run.

The Mets didn't have a hit for 17 straight innings before Juan Soto hit a solo home run off Williams with one out in the ninth.
