Trump has long coveted the Nobel Peace Prize, and his friends, i ncluding lawmakers, have nominated him for the honor numerous times. He's also mocked former President Barack Obama, who won the award in 2009 one year into his first term, saying he didn't know "what the hell he got it for."

The U.S. President has been formally nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in ending the recent conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.

So far, five countries have backed US President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize. Earlier, Israel had endorsed Trump for a Nobel Prize, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presenting a letter to the Nobel committee nominating him for the prize.
