Back in January, right ahead of the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show, United Airlines announced that it was speeding up its rollout and installation of Starlink across its fleet. It was good news as Grant Milstead, VP of Digital Technology for the airline, told us that it was “kind of enabling the living room in the sky experience.”

United Airlines has begun the process of dramatically upgrading its onboard Wi-Fi offering, beginning with its fleet of Embraer regional jets.

United Airlines has installed the first of its Starlink inflight connectivity system on a regional aircraft, with plans to go on to outfit more than 40 of its regional aircraft fleet each month, and ultimately its entire fleet.

United announced its intention to upgrade its entire fleet with Wi-Fi powered by Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites. As of today, the first Starlink-equipped regional plane is ready to fly. United said it only took about 8 hours to install the equipment,

United plans to install Starlink in its entire two-cabin regional fleet by the end of 2025, with around 40 installations a month.

The carrier plans to have the satellite-based internet service available on at least 300 of its regional planes by the end of 2025
