A Winter Weather Advisory sparked by the incoming snow system on Saturday has been issued for a large swath of counties across Mid-Michigan and Northern Michigan. The advisory cautions of worsening driving conditions on Saturday. It runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

On Friday at 3:14 p.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Saturday 5 p.m. until Sunday 11 a.m. for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 1:45 p.m. on Friday valid from Saturday 1 p.m. until Sunday 7 a.m. for Northern Erie and Southern Erie as well as Crawford County.

Meanwhile, a swath of the Central and Eastern U.S. was under winter weather advisory, which the NWS issues "for any amount of freezing rain, or when 2 to 4 inches of snow (alone or in combination with sleet and freezing rain), is expected to cause a significant inconvenience, but not serious enough to warrant a warning."

On Thursday at 2:39 p.m. a winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Saturday 7 p.m. until Sunday 4 p.m. for Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties.
