Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood will be kicked off Medicare and Medicaid programs, and a report suggests it could face closure when it is. The Department of Health and Human Services is removing Weiss from the federal health care programs,

The emergency room and other facilities closed as of 7 a.m. Friday, emergency room registered nurse Daniel Maser said.

A sign posted at the North Side hospital emergency room notified patients of the closure Friday morning. The ER is closing after the hospital was notified it will lose access to Medicare and Medicaid on Saturday.
