Ben Stokes has inspired a revival in England's Ashes campaign with a record 106-run ninth-wicket stand alongside Jofra Archer.

On a day when temperatures reached 40C and fresh controversy erupted over the Snicko review technology, England were 213-8 at stumps on day two, still 158 runs short of Australia’s first innings 371.

After showing control and rhythm on the opening day, Archer returned early on day two to target Australia’s tail. The fast bowler finished with five wickets for 53 runs, registering his first Test five-for since 2019 and offering England a rare spark in an otherwise challenging contest.
