No. 7 Michigan State going on the road to face 'new-look' Rutgers squad
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan State men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo is meeting with the media on Monday to talk more about the season and the upcoming trip to Rutgers. MSU won its sixth straight game this past Saturday by taking down Maryland 91-48 at the Breslin Center.
The No. 12 Spartans host the Hoosiers at 7 p.m. ET at the Breslin Center in East Lansing as both teams look to improve their Big Ten records.
Kohler, Fears and Cooper are at the epicenter of Michigan State's glitzy 17-2 record, including a 7-1 mark in Big Ten play. Michigan State is fresh off a 2-0 West Coast roadtrip, but that body-clock adjustment is always a concern for coaches. Four days should be enough to get back up to speed, but it's a factor entering Saturday's action.
Jaxon Kohler leads MSU, averaging 14.4 points and 10.0 rebounds in league games. Jeremy Fears Jr. adds 13.2 points and 6.8 assists, and Coen Carr 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and a highlight-reel dunk (maybe two). The pull down a league-most 40.4 rebounds in league games.
