According to the San Jose Police Department, investigations were underway into a stabbing incident that resulted in an “officer involved shooting.” According the SJPD, a call came in at 3:23 p.m. Sunday afternoon, but the investigation was still active as of late Sunday night.

The Sunday afternoon encounter marks the city’s second fatal police shooting in a week; the police auditor says his office was abruptly barred access to the shooting scene.

San Jose Police said they suspect that the man officers fatally shot on Sunday had killed his child and called 911 to get into a deadly confrontation with police.
