A San Jose man was killed Sunday morning after his pickup truck veered off state Highway 17 in Santa Cruz County and slammed into a tree, authorities said.
Officers attempted to stop the driver after the Acura was spotted on Highway 1 near Verde Road, but the driver kept going, authorities said. CHP officers pursued the vehicle northbound and coordinated with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit ended when officers were able to stop the Acura driver near Triple D Ranch, the CHP said.
