Jack Draper will hope to secure a breakthrough success on clay as he takes on Casper Ruud in the Madrid Open final. Draper has climbed into the world’s top five with a brilliant run in the Spanish capital and overcame Lorenzo Musetti in a hard-fought encounter to reach a final on the surface for the first time.

Meanwhile Ruud booked his place in the final after beating Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo 6-4, 7-5. The world number 15 struggled with a rib injury throughout his semi-final but came through to reach his 18 th final on clay. Speaking after beating Cerundolo, Ruud, who has won 11 titles on clay, admitted he was unsure he would finish the match.
