Two months after the division series, we've learned that the Toronto Blue Jays had at least one extra thing working in their favor.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone acknowledged this week at the winter meetings that the Blue Jays “kicked our ass” in 2025, which included winning their ALDS matchup, 3-1. Toronto apparently had some intel that aided its performance in the playoffs.

Devin Williams signed with the New York Mets, Luke Weaver is a free agent and the Yankees were 23rd in MLB with a collective 4.37 ERA and 19th with a 1.32 WHIP last season; they need a boost in their bullpen, and Kopech is a compelling option.

"The Yankees," Rogers wrote. "For once, they are the team that needs to respond after the Blue Jays beat them on the field and now so far in the offseason. Toronto keeps adding while New York should try to at least maintain what it has -- meaning Bellinger, or perhaps Tucker, should be in Yankees pinstripes as soon as possible."
