Firefighters are still working to contain the Palisades Fire as weather conditions improve this week and search efforts continue in the wildfire which has killed at least 10 people and burned over 23,

Cooler temperatures, higher humidity and calm winds through Monday morning should give firefighters a much needed respite for the rest of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service

Calm weather greeted firefighters for another day Friday on the lines of the Eaton and Palisades blazes that have killed more than two dozen people and flattened thousands of structures, allowing crews to extend containment lines and more residents to return to their homes.

Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,713 acres after being active for nine days. A crew of 4,471 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 27% of the fire by Thursday evening. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

Subsiding winds in the Los Angeles area have allowed fire crews to gain more control of the ongoing wildfires. CBS News' Andres Gutierrez has the latest.
