A heat advisory has been issued for the Dallas-Fort Worth area and points east, as a powerful and rapidly intensifying Hurricane Erin churns in the Caribbean.
A Royal Caribbean cruise ship made a stop in Central Florida on Sunday after being rerouted because of Hurricane Erin. The Vision of the Seas pulled into Port Canaveral just after sunrise Sunday morning. The ship had departed Maryland on Thursday and was originally headed to Bermuda.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the disturbance—currently classified as a tropical wave—is located near the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and is expected to cross the region today.
Erin strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane on Friday morning east of the Caribbean Islands and is expected to keep strengthening through the weekend.
