COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Former Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken is headed to the Statehouse. Timken, who unsuccessfully ran to be a U.S. Senator, will instead replace state Sen. Kirk Schuring in the Ohio Senate.
Jane Timken, who served as the head of the state Republican Party and ran for U.S. Senate in 2022, has been chosen to fill a vacancy in the Ohio Senate.
The Cincinnati-born Timken, who is now based in Canton, will replace the late Kirk Schuring, a Jackson Township Republican who died of cancer last November.
Timken was newly-elected President Trump’s pick to lead the Ohio GOP when she ousted Matt Borges in 2017. Borges had supported former Ohio Gov. John Kasich as he ran against Trump in the 2016 primary, and had not been an enthusiastic supporter after Trump became the GOP nominee.
