The Cincinnati Bengals have some really obvious cut candidates this offseason. While the Bengals aren’t technically hurting for cap space, they could use every bit of wiggle room possible while staring down a possible historic Ja’Marr Chase extension and at least a second franchise tag for Tee Higgins.
It's likely Cincinnati places the franchise tag on the wide receiver, but if they don't, would the Patriots be willing to offer him a big contract?
A Chase extension could indeed be friendly in Year 1, depending on the structure. That could, in turn, give the Bengals wiggle room to frontload another deal and/or pay out big for Higgins and/or Hendrickson, if not both, offsetting the big spike on Chase’s cap hits after 2025.
