Elon Musk has launched xAI’s Grok 4—calling it the “world’s smartest AI” and claiming it can ace Ph.D.-level exams and outpace rivals such as Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s o3 on tough benchmarks

Built using huge amounts of computing power at a Tennessee data center, Grok is Musk’s attempt to outdo rivals such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini in building an AI assistant that shows its reasoning before answering a question.

In the ever-expanding universe of artificial intelligence, two major contenders have emerged in 2025, sparking debates among tech enthusiasts, creators, and curious minds alike. ChatGPT by OpenAI and Grok 4 by xAI.
