A Dallas activist group has sued to block the Ten Commandments from being displayed in Texas classrooms under a new law that is supposed to take effect on Sept. 1.

The Texas measure easily passed in the Republican-controlled state House and Senate in the legislative session that ended June 2.

As the bill-signing deadline looms, pressure increases on Abbott to veto the so-called THC ban that is strongly backed by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
