MONROE, Wash. — A blast of arctic air is plunging south from Canada and spreading into parts of the northern U.S., while residents of the Pacific Northwest brace for possible mudslides and levee failures from floodwaters that are expected to be slow to recede.
As the Pacific Northwest braces for more rainfall, one Central Valley woman is already on the ground helping those in need. Fresno resident Deborah Blaze has been on 17 different deployments with the American Red Cross Central Valley chapter.
Following a very wet pattern last week, AccuWeather meteorologists warn that additional rain in the Northwest this week that will heighten the risk of widespread flooding.
A levee was breached on the rising Green River early Monday afternoon, just east of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in western Washington, as another atmospheric river dumps rain over the Pacific Northwest.
