Our next impact event arrives late Monday night into Tuesday morning. This time, some winter weather will be mixed in.
Middle Tennessee school districts are monitoring for the potential for winter weather Dec. 1 and overnight into early Dec. 2 as most students return to school from Thanksgiving break. Several school districts announced they will open on a two-hour delay on Dec. 2. They include: Houston County Schools.
Morning: Cloudy and cold with slick bridges and overpasses possible. Over northern Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky, a few secondary roads could be treacherous, too, with minor snow/sleet accumulation. Temperatures will be in the 20s and low 30s. Most areas will be dry, but scattered snow flurries will be possible.
Very cold rain showers are continuing to fall across West Tennessee. There are a few pockets of sleet and freezing rain trying to mix in north of Crockett County. Temperatures are slowly dropping and getting down near freezing in some areas north of I-40 and that is where we might see some frozen stuff trying

NOAA releases 2025-26 winter weather predictions. Here’s what to expect in Tennessee, other states
The Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, released its long-range forecast for December 2025 through February 2026 on Thursday. The outlook tells two different stories: a cold, wet winter for some states versus a hot, dry season for others.
Any rain, snow or mixing will be long gone by morning rush hour, but keep an eye out for slick spots early in the day, mainly on overpasses and bridges. We’ll work on getting sunshine back in the afternoon, but it will stay cold and breezy with temperatures stalling out in the 30s for the day.
WINTERY WEATHER - Crews in Arkansas and Tennessee were preparing roads to keep them clear and safe from the wintery weather moving into the area, pretreating roads with salt and brine for the possibility of ice.
