The federal agent who shot and killed a driver in Minneapolis is an Iraq War veteran who has served for nearly two decades in the Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to records obtained Thursday by The Associated Press.
Minnesota officials are demanding a role in the investigation, but experts say prosecuting federal agents isn't easy.
The ICE agent allegedly involved in the fatal shooting has been identified as Jonathan E. Ross, according to court records. Ross, a Minnesota resident, is a 10-year veteran of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations division and served on the agency’s Special Response Team, according to several reports.
