The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to take up a challenge to gun laws in New York that ban firearms from certain “sensitive” locations and require that handgun owners be of “good moral character.”

The U.S. Supreme Court turned away on Monday a challenge to New York firearms restrictions adopted shortly after the justices in 2022 struck down the Democratic state's previous limits on carrying concealed handguns in a landmark ruling that expanded gun rights.

The Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to a New York state's "sensitive locations" firearms ban, leaving key parts of the law in place.
