Erin formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean on Monday and is strengthening as it moves westward. The NHC said there is still uncertainty about what impact it could have on states like Florida on the U.S. East Coast, as well as the Bahamas and Bermuda.

Tropical Storm Erin has formed on a path toward the Caribbean and is expected to strengthen to a hurricane later in the week as it passes by Puerto Rico. Most models forecast the storm turning upward into the Atlantic Ocean, but a few see the storm continuing onward to the U.S. mainland.

Erin is the fifth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic season. It will gradually strengthen as it moves westward in the coming days. By early Wednesday morning, Erin was about 1,400 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands with 45 mph winds. The storm was moving west at 20 mph.
