Cedar Point has temporarily closed its Power Tower ride after a cable detached from it, per NBC affiliate WKYC in Cleveland.

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WOIO) - Cedar Point’s Power Tower ride is closed Monday, after a cable on one of the ride’s towers detached from the ride vehicle Sunday evening. Cedar Point Spokesperson Tony Clark said the safety system performed as designed and the ride vehicle returned to the loading position.

It hit the guard tower, and it sounded like the earth was coming to an end. That’s when everyone started freaking out, scattering, and running.”
