Starting July 31, the governor's DOGE teams will start on-site inspections of county and city spending records and policies.

In the news conference Tuesday, DeSantis and his head of DOGE, Eric Soskin, acknowledged that Broward County had responded to their request for financial information — but said they still considered the local government to be uncooperative because it had not passed a resolution supporting their financial audits.

DeSantis' "Florida DOGE" messaging is modeled after the national Department of Government Efficiency actions by the Trump administration but are focused on auditing local governments.
