The White House has released the names of all members of the delegation accompanying US President Donald Trump on his trip to Alaska, where he is set to hold his first meeting of this term with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in the evening.

A diplomatic scramble unfolded Saturday after President Donald Trump announced he would meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, next week in Alaska, as European leaders rushed to understand the terms of the meeting and ensure Ukraine was not being left out of discussions about its future.

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will serve as the backdrop for Trump to welcome the Russian leader to American soil for the first time in a decade. The base sits on 85,000 acres of land that were included in the US purchase of Alaska from the Russians in 1867, and today houses more than 5,000 active military and civilian personnel.
