Queue sea turtle documentary. Cape Lookout National Seashore had its first turtle nest hatch this week! Loggerhead, Green, Leatherback, and Kemp Ridley's sea turtles' nests have been found at the seashore in the past. To give the sea turtles a better chance at survival, biologists in the park put up closures on beaches. These closures help prevent tire tracks which hatchlings can get stuck in. NEWS RELEASE Second house collapses at Cape Hatteras National Seashore Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) has confirmed that an unoccupied house at 24265 Ocean Drive, Rodanthe, N.C. collapsed this afternoon. This is the second unoccupied house collapse of the day at the Seashore. The beach near Ocean Drive is closed and law enforcement officials will close Ocean Drive shortly.
