Laysan ducklings learn to dabble and stick close to mom at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge in Hawai‘i. While the small, dabbling duck remains endangered, thanks to huge conservation efforts that included two relocations in the last 20 years, there are now established koloa pōhaka populations on Midway and Kure atolls.
